CC Voices was privileged to join some of the top editors of salon industry publications at Wella’s TrendVision 2015 in Monte Carlo, Monaco. It was just before Thanksgiving so we asked them what they were grateful for…and what they saw in the months ahead for the industry. They’ll all be at America’s Beauty Show in March, covering all the news, trends and events that happen at our own show.
Here are their comments…followed by a sneak preview of “Journey of Enlightenment,” the Spring/Summer 2015 Wella trend.
Maggie Mulhern, Beauty and Fashion Director, MODERN SALON I am particularly grateful for the many forms of social media that have allowed me to see the work of some of the wonderful artists in our industry. Managing MODERN’s Instagram participation, I have been exposed to artists that I would never encounter in any other way. I now “follow” and cover artists from other countries, as well as our own home grown talents from salon and spa pros from coast to coast who night not normally get the exposure they deserve.
Kelley Donahue, Editor in Chief, American Salon I’m thankful for the economic comeback our salons are experiencing. They work so hard! I feel we’ve turned a corner on the recession…are opening up to new business opportunities and services in the salons. For the future, I see more and more artistry and innovation coming from our young stylists as well as the industry’s product manufacturers. Exciting times!
Jackie Summers, Senior Editorial Consultant, Behind The Chair I’m confident that our salon business is getting stronger, as we always have services that consumers want from hairdressers they want to visit. I’m grateful for this industry as it has given me a wonderful life.
Laura Dunphy, Publisher, Salon Magazine, Canada – I’m thankful for the great talents in our industry from around the world. They are always inspiring to me.
Joan Harrison, Publications Director, Canadian Hairdresser I’m thankful for the entire industry, for the wind of change that is always in the air for hairdressers today, and for all the creative changes I have witnessed in my lifetime. Also, Wella showed me a new direction for salons at this event.
