“Make Interesting Connections” was the theme of one of the ads we produced for the 2013 America’s Beauty Show. Beauty professionals worldwide loved it. And now, Cosmetologists Chicago has won its SIXTH consecutive award for graphic design excellence with our “connections” salon industry advertisement!
Chosen from more than 4,000 entries in the American In-House Graphic Design Awards competition, the award is presented annually by Graphic Design USA magazine.
Our prize-winning advertising concept was created by a collaboration of Cosmetologists Chicago’s Creative Director Kristen Erickson and Luis Alvarez of Aquage, who also photographed the high-concept ad. The inimitable hair artist Ann Bray created the hairstyle for this and led style teams for all the 2013 America’s Beauty Show advertising. It doesn’t get much better than that!
The two-page spread entitled “Make Interesting Connections,” was seen by hundreds of thousands of cosmetologists worldwide, and featured dancer Jenny Winton of Chicago’s The Joffrey Ballet, mirroring herself across the pages, connected by her elaborate sculpted hairstyle.
As Kristen told us, “working with Luis, Ann, and the Aquage artistic team for the past six years has been so creatively inspiring. I am extremely proud to be part of our America’s Beauty Show team, bringing worldwide beauty to Chicago for more than 90-years. Winning the award six years in a row is icing on the cake!”
So what will this creative team do for the 2014 America’s Beauty Show?
Well, we don’t know yet…
But we do know that the campaign will be inspirational, totally different from anything else you’ll see in your salon publications, and created specifically to entice salon professionals from around the globe to join us for the March 22-24, 2014 event at McCormick Place in downtown Chicago.
