Lorrene Conino joined CC’s Board of Directors last fall and has already made several important contributions. She is also vice president of a charity called Celebrating All That is Feminine (CATIF), based in Palatine, IL, where her Salon Lorrene is located. Her salon team is also very involved in CATIF fundraising events.
CATIF is a small group of local professional women who have joined together to raise funds to assist women in need. They hold two events a year that support the work of other established organizations focused on empowering women and at-risk girls. Each member has different business strengths and supports the others.
This small group is similar in many ways to Cosmetologists Chicago’s own efforts in community service. Our educational programs, communications outreach and fund-raising for scholarships and to help salon professionals in need also bring our members together to support our professional community.
There are lots of opportunities to give back as a CC volunteer…you can serve on committees, help with the workshops and classes at America’s Beauty Show, and just let your association know that you believe in what we are doing for the industry. Call CC headquarters on 312-321-6809 to discuss how you can get involved!
The volunteers at Salon Lorrene and CATIF have many reasons to celebrate this summer.
Not only has CATIF raised more than $57,000 to date but also Salon Lorrene just won second place and a donation of $2,500 to their charity by participating in the Wella Charity Challenge!
According to Lorrene, “Our salon is team organized, and every team member does their part. They naturally want to help, and love to give back. We are all proud that our salon is so dedicated to our community. Our customers are also proud of our accomplishments, and we are recognized in the community for our efforts. That is good for our business!”
Cosmetologists Chicago offers three ways you can get involved in your community, including:
- Identify a cause that’s meaningful to your entire salon staff. Reach out to the local charity or non-profit, and volunteer your help.
- Plan and hold an event to raise funds for your charity, such as a cut-a-thon or an evening fashion show. Involve other businesses near you to build your audience…and attract more clients to your salon!
- Invite local media to attend your special event. Be sure to share your news with industry media and your Cosmetologists Chicago “CC Voices” editors!
